Music & Singing

From 1986 - 1992, Alison studied with Liza Martin, a jazz artist, and then with Beryl Foster, a Grieg and Lieder specialist, until 1998. In 2000 she spent a couple of years working with Voice Movement Therapist, Sheri Kershaw. She has taught singing in private practise since about 1994. She has recently started having lessons with Sarah Wright-Owens exploring the Estill Technique, and successfully took Trinity College's Associate Recital Diploma.

Alison taught herself to play the guitar when she was 13, and then studied classical guitar at school for a couple of years. She can also play the trumpet, and fools around on the piano trying to accompany students! Whilst living in Cambridge from 1999-2002, she decided to start teaching herself how to play the harp, and has since studied at a couple of workshops with Sarah Deer-Jones of the Cornwall Harp Centre.

Dance

Alison started her movement training in 1986, studying Expressive Mime and Movement with Adam Darius and Kazimir Koleznik at the London Mime Centre.

From 1996-98, she took various courses from the Dance Foundation Programme at Kensington and Chelsea College, where she studied with different teachers including Jo Ellison, and also Filip Van Hufel, of Retina Dance Company.

In 1998 Alison studied at the Laban Centre, London, graduating with a Professional Diploma in Dance Studies in 1999.

For a brief period, Ali taught at the Cambridge Theological Federation, looking at Dance in Worship from both a practical and theoretical perspective. She also taught GCSE Dance at a Cambridgeshire School.

Up until recently she taught dance at Stagecoach Kenilworth, and at a Contemporary Dance after-school club with students from Henley-in-Arden High School.
